Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

Plucky Pet Inc. operates Plucky Pet and this website (“Plucky Pet”, “we”, “us”). We respect your privacy and collect as little as we can. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. We follow Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (“Law 25”) and Canada’s PIPEDA; for visitors in the EU and UK we also honour the GDPR.

Who is responsible

As Law 25 requires, we have designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information. For any question, to exercise one of your rights, or to make a complaint, contact them at [email protected].

What we collect

  • What you give us. If you sign up: your email address, first name, your cat’s name, and optionally a “gotcha day” — because the notes we send are written to you and about her.
  • What is collected automatically. Standard technical data — IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view — through cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies and tracking).

We do not collect your postal address, phone number, or payment details. Where you buy something, the purchase happens on the retailer’s site, and they — not we — hold the payment information.

Why we use it

  • To send the emails you asked for, and to reply when you contact us.
  • To understand and improve how the site is used.
  • To measure our advertising and show you relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram — only if you consent (see Cookies and tracking).

We do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Consent

Email sign-up is double opt-in: you give an address, we send one email asking you to confirm, and nothing else happens unless you do. We keep a record of that consent — when and from where it was given. Every email has a working unsubscribe, and unsubscribing is immediate and permanent. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Cookies and tracking

Like most sites, we use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:

  • Analytics — privacy-preserving, cookieless measurement of how the site is used. It counts pages, not people, and does not build profiles.
  • Advertising — the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to measure our ads and show you relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. This shares limited information with Meta, a third party, for that purpose. We do not sell your personal information.

Non-essential cookies stay off until you agree. We ask in a banner, and you can at any time. You can also manage your Meta ad preferences or block cookies in your browser.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run Plucky Pet, and only for that purpose:

  • our email / newsletter provider, to deliver the emails you asked for;
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta Pixel — only if you consent;
  • our website hosting and infrastructure provider.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s independent marketing.

Where it is processed

Some of our providers — including Meta and our infrastructure — process information outside Québec and Canada, including in the United States. When personal information is handled outside Québec, we take reasonable steps to see that it receives comparable protection. By using the site and giving consent, you understand that information may be processed in those locations.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires, and then we delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

Your rights

Under Law 25 and PIPEDA (and the GDPR where it applies) you can:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • have it corrected if it is wrong;
  • withdraw your consent, or unsubscribe, at any time;
  • ask us to delete it;
  • ask for a copy in a structured, commonly used format (portability).

To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and a person will handle it, at no charge, within the timelines the law sets.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (the CAI) or, elsewhere in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, and we keep the amount we hold small on purpose. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we treat your information as if it were our own.

Children

Plucky Pet is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 14. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “last updated” date above, and for any significant change we will let subscribers know by email.
